My name is Holly and I live in Nashville, Indiana, the heart of beautiful Brown County. I create pottery in my home studio in the woods where I live with my husband, father, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and lots of other critters. I still have one of my kids living around the area, which I love. My oldest is currently working on her second Master's degree in Austin, Texas, my middle child is a service engineer living near us, and my youngest is a project manager in Madison, WI. I hope at some point one of them will be as passionate about pottery as I am!
As for me - I have always been interested in pottery and started making it again several years ago. I love everything about the process (even all the research and testing!). I find it relaxing and that it fulfills my need to be creative like no other activity. I currently make pottery full time and have my pots in a couple of downtown Nashville stores. My studio is in my garage and that is where I can be found throwing, trimming, and glazing. Making a pot is actually a fairly lengthy process when you factor in drying time an any applicable research and testing. Right now, if you have a custom order you've placed, it will likely be 2-4 months before it is complete.
Every Holly Pot is handmade by me and no two are exactly alike. When you purchase a Holly Pot, you have a unique creation that my two hands took from a mound of clay to a finished product. Each is a one of a kind piece.
In 2020 we invested in a slab roller and are making several more products using this tool (so much fun!). We have started making ornaments, magnets, coasters, hand-built tumblers/cups, and mugs - and hope to add more to this list very soon!
I receive a lot of inquiries from people who would like to know more about pottery and are interested in learning to throw or want to make ornaments or other hand built pieces. Later this year (2021) I will move into a new studio and hope to offer classes once I get moved - more to come on that. If you, too, are interested in learning, please reach out to me using the form on bottom of the website Home Page and I will add your name to the list. ** UPDATE** (September 2021) we hope to be in the new studio by November of 2021! Keep up with us on Facebook for more updates on this and keep your fingers crossed we are in by that time!
I post pictures of my pottery and videos of my process on Facebook (hollypots47448) and Instagram (HollyPots.Stoneware).
