Soy Candles

Candles by Emma

In 2023 we introduced our line of soy candles made by our daughter-in-law, Emma. Since their introduction, several other family members have stepped in to help with their production. We are thrilled to add them to our online shop!

About Candles by Emma

Our candle philosophy

Our candle philosophy

Our candle philosophy

Our candles are hand-poured in small batches by members of our family. My father wicks and labels, my husband pours each one, and our daughter-law consults on scent and aesthetics. Our candles are free from dyes and all our scents are phthalate free.

Our wax

Our candle philosophy

Our candle philosophy

Our candles are made with 100% American grown soy wax. Pure soy wax is prone to pitting and bumps unless it is blended  - this is often done with other waxes such as paraffin or beeswax. To stay pure soy, we embrace the imperfections that occur when our candles are burned.

Our wicks

Our candle philosophy

Our wicks

Our candles are made with cotton wicks that are reinforced with paper fibers. They are free of lead and zinc. We strive to bring you the cleanest burning soy candle we can make!

Handcrafted candles

Safety FIRST!

Flame candles are on FIRE when lit. While it may seem obvious, sometimes familiarity with items can lead to complacency. I actually know someone whose child was injured by a candle left lit in a bathroom, unattended. The fire caused was extinguished quickly and the child's hand did heal, but it was a devastating event for the family. This is just a reminder to all those who burn candles - to please do so safely.

  • Keep lit candles in view and NEVER leave unattended
  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets
  • Keep lit candles away from drafts and flammable materials
  • Keep candles free of dust and foreign materials - nothing but wax and wick!
  • Wicks should be trimmed to 1/4 inch
  • Only burn candles on level surfaces that are fire resistant
  • Burn our mason jar candles (4 and 8 ounce) only up to 4 hours at a time
  • Burn our "Littles" only for up to 2 hours at a time
  • Extinguish candle if the flame is flickering repeatedly - trim then relight
  • Lit candles are HOT! Never touch the candle jar when lit.
